EACH month The Northern Echo highlights one of the many dogs looking for a home at the Dogs Trust Darlington, in Sadberge, near Darlington.

A STAFFORDSHIRE Bull Terrier who was found abandoned as a stray is looking for a new home.

Florence, thought to be four-years-old, has been described by staff at the Dogs Trust as their 'friendly white ghost' ahead of Halloween but say she wouldn't say boo too anyone.

Rebecca McKeown, supporter relations officer at the centre, said: "She loves spending time with people and has lots of love to offer.

"Florence’s tail never stops wagging and she is a very bouncy girl who loves to be into everything but will display lots of basic obedience for a tasty treat."

Since arriving at the centre Florence has been diagnosed with epilepsy, which is controlled by medication.

To help her bid to be rehomed, Florence has been placed on the Dogs Trust Shared Adoption Scheme, which means that the charity will pay for the medication and any additional treatment for her epilepsy for the rest of her life.

Florence can live in a home with children over the age of 14 but needs to be the only pet in the home.

For more information on Florence or any of the other dogs at the centre in need of a new home call 01325-333114 or visit the centre between noon and 4pm each day except Tuesdays.
