SOMETHING fishy will be happening in Darlington this month when a much-loved family movie comes to town.
As part of its Darlington by the Sea schedule of summertime events, Distinct Darlington is installing a giant silver screen in the town’s Market Square on Friday, July 24 and 31.
Among the trio of films shown on both days, will be Disney favourite, Finding Nemo, which will be screened at 3.30pm each day.
Underwater adventures can also be found earlier each day, with the escapades of sea-dwelling SpongeBob SquarePants in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, at 1.30pm.
While at 11am, sci-fi fans can enjoy screenings of Academy Award-winning Big Hero 6, about high tech inflatable robots.
“All three are great family films,” said Alex Hirst, manager of Distinct Darlington.
“And visitors to the town centre on each day will be able to watch them outdoors on the big screen entirely free of charge.”
While some deckchairs will be available, film fans are advised to bring their own portable chairs, rugs and cushions as seating is limited.
Along with the film screenings, visitors to the town centre over the two-week event will be able to enjoy a variety of activities and entertainment, including Punch and Judy shows, seaside-themed sideshows, competitions and pirate treasure hunts.
