TRADERS are being encouraged to join the festive fun and present their wares at the upcoming Darlington Christmas Market.

Those who sell specialist Christmas and themed goods may be especially interested in the market which runs from Thursday, November 26 to Saturday, November 28.

Things will get off to a twinkling start with stalls staying open till 8pm to coincide with the town’s annual lights switch on Thursday, November 26.

There will be deals throughout the town centre to mark Black Friday on Friday, November 27, followed by a Santa Selfie competition with the opportunity to win hundreds of pounds in vouchers on Saturday, November 28.

The town’s regular indoor and outdoor stallholders, as well as visiting traders, will be taking part.

Stalls will be open from 9am from Thursday to Saturday, offering everything from tasty local produce and more exotic delicacies to books and clothes.

Councillor Chris McEwan, Darlington Borough Council’s cabinet member for economy and regeneration, said: “Our festive Christmas Market has become a hugely popular event and offers a great opportunity for local and visiting market traders to join in the fun and boost their businesses.

“The town centre is undergoing major changes, including the cinema development and multi-storey car park, that will improve and enhance the shopping experience and we hope events such as this will continue to encourage more shoppers, as well as traders, to come to Darlington.”

Stall places are limited, but there are still some spots available for visiting stallholders who can book a place for one day or all three at £25 per day.
