A huge power cut has hit parts of Newcastle City Centre this morning including major shopping areas including Eldon Square.
The outage was reported around 9am this morning with 150 properties thought to be affected.
It is understood the issue is due to an unexpected problem with the cables or equipment that serve the area.

A Northern Powergrid statement said: “We are facing a major power cut in this area. We are working towards restoring it as early as possible.”
The power company currently predicts the issue will be resolved by 10.15am.
