Families have been left disappointed after queuing for hours for tickets for Fenwick’s Santa on the Roof event, only to find it had sold out.
Tickets for Fenwick Newcastle’s hugely popular Santa on the Roof event went on sale this morning (September 29) to huge demand, with some people queueing for over an hour to try and book a place.
But some families were left disappointed after reaching the end of the queue to find there were no slots left.

People reported queues of over 12,000 people just minutes after sales opened at 10am on Thursday morning, with online queuing system in place to manage bookings.
One queuer said: “I started in the queue at 10am and there was nearly 6,000 people ahead of me. Got through at 12 to find it all sold out.”
Posting online one queuer said: “Well what a waste of half a morning. Sitting in a queue for 100 mins for tickets to see Santa only to get in and find it sold out.”
Meanwhile another disappointed Twitter user joked: “It appears getting Sam Fender tickets was easier than getting tickets for visiting Santa on the Roof at Fenwick's Newcastle, it only opened at 10.00am and by 10.03am I was 12,000+ in the queue.”

The hugely popular event is returning to the Fenwick Newcastle rooftop from November 7, right up until Christmas Eve, giving youngsters the chance to meet Santa himself.
Organisers say guests who were lucky enough to get tickets will have the chance to meet Father Christmas, explore his magical cabin, help his elves with some crafting and stop off at ‘Café Claus’.
Other Christmas events at the department store include breakfast, supper and afternoon teas with Santa, as well as ‘Storytime with the Elves’ and a festive cinema. Tickets for these other events will go on sale in October.
