A North East football legend has sworn they will not swear as they look to take home the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! crown.

Jill Scott MBE, England football hero, born and raised in Sunderland, has vowed she will watch her language while taking part in this year's series.

The Euros final hero, whose penchant for profanity will be remembered by fans of her performance against Germany, will be competing in this year's event.

Many have already flocked online to show their admiration for Scott's performance in the series debut yesterday, and have earmarked her as the early favourite.

The Northern Echo:

One excited watcher said: "Jill Scott showing so perfectly why it was the women who brought it home and not the men."

Another awestruck fan said: "Jill Scott is an absolute mentality monster. I’d walk on hot coals for that hero

While pundit and former teammate, Kelly Smith MBE, said: "Go Jill Scott, the footballing world loves you and we know you will smash it."

Adding to this, Channel 5 broadcaster Dan Walker said: "Just give Jill Scott the crown already."

She cheekily said that Ant and Dec might support her due to her due to her status as a fellow North Easterner, joking she might have to switch football allegiances to Newcastle before that happens.

Meanwhile, Scott also quipped that she's prepared for any stomach-turning trials, having already dealt with her mum's lasagne on a regular basis.
