Darlington manager Alun Armstrong is to have talks with club following the team’s latest deflating defeat.

Quakers chief executive David Johnston has announced he will hold discussions with Armstrong and his staff in light of Saturday’s 3-0 loss at Brackley Town, which extended their winless run to seven games.

It saw them stumble out of the play-off positions, dropping to eighth.

Armstrong was red-carded following his reaction to Brackley being awarded a penalty in the second half, while assistant manager Darren Holloway saw red at half-time after offering his opinion to the referee.

Johnston said: “The result at Brackley was disappointing for the club as we continue to push for a playoff place. I will be meeting with Alun and his staff to discuss the performance and get their perspectives on incidents in the match. I will update supporters following the discussion.

“We are very aware that emotions are running high for supporters, staff and the players and we need to pull together as one to get over the line and into the playoffs. Let's not distract our team from the task at hand and ensure we focus on the remaining three matches.”

Darlington bid to address their alarming form when they host Curzon Ashton on Tuesday evening, and they are also at home on Saturday against leaders King’s Lynn Town.

Quakers have won one of their last 14 matches, their season having deteriorated since the January sale of top scorer Mark Beck to Solihull Moors.
