DARLINGTON MOWDEN PARK face one of their toughest home tests of the season tomorrow afternoon as they welcome Rams RFC to the Darlington Arena.

Mowden are coming into the game on the back of a loss, while Rams currently sit joint top of the National One table. Prior to losing their most recent game, however, Mowden has strung together three successive victories.

It will be a special game for Mowden’s director of rugby, Garry Law, who is making his 150th appearance for the club. He has played for Mowden for more than a decade since joining in 2014.

“I’m really pleased to be making my 150th appearance for this club I now call home," said Law, ahead of his landmark appearance. "Not too bad considering I retired a few years ago on 105 caps!"

After signing from Rotherham in 2014, Law has gone on to become a mainstay of the Mowden set-up both on and off the field, taking on the role of director of rugby in 2019.

Looking back on the high points of his time with the club so far, he added: “I'm not sure I could narrow it down to a single highlight as we have had many ups and downs during the time.

"I think the main highlight would possibly be helping to keep the club’s National One status since we came into the league.”

Mowden have been one of the league’s form sides in 2024, dropping just seven points so far this year.

“The lads are naturally confident from getting the recent wins at home, so we will be hoping to tap into this and really take it to what will be a very strong Rams team," said Law.

"We’ve got nothing to lose and we’re just trying to continue enjoying this little run we are on. Everyone is just working incredibly hard for each other and playing with smiles on faces.”

Law has made two changes to his starting line-up for the Rams game. Centre Ewan Greenlaw comes in to the side for his first start of the season, while Tongan forward Talite Vaioleti makes a welcome return in the second row.

There’s also a place on the bench for young second row Ryan Gibson, who will make his league debut if brought on.
